Friday wrap up

How was your week?

Hard to believe it’s the 3rd week of November! Managed to hit the gym three times and hope to go over the weekend, as usual.

Wrapped up a writing course; went to a concert in Niagara Falls (Morrissey was great!) and stayed overnight, sleeping surprisingly well in the hotel. Sleep in general has been a bit of a challenge lately so that was a pleasant surprise. Turns out that while we were having a pretty good sleep, my son only got 3 hours sleep of his own, while he watched Cody at home for us.

Today was a good one as I got to spend time with my son and his girlfriend. We had a lovely dinner together and then I walked with them around the mall, as they scouted out some things that they are interested in picking up during Black Friday sales. They will be moving away and in together in the new year, so are scoping out dinnerware, flatware, coffee machines … adulting stuff. It’s an exciting time for them. Makes me a little sad, but also happy for them. Brought me back to when Ian and I were outfitting our first home oh so many years ago.

Black Friday sales for me? Well I need to refrain. At this point I should be getting rid of stuff!

I adore Morrissey’s music, but boy that guy is a dick, right? Not going to get in the way of enjoying a concert though.

One thing I have discovered is that consignment stores have some really good deals on beautiful china/flatware/crystal. Not sure whether that is what they’re looking for, they’re likely looking for something more every day, but something to keep in mind.

Yeah, I’m starting to think of getting rid of things too…

Yeah, I’ve heard of Morrissey’s behaviour and views, decided that I wanted to see him live at least once because I love the music so much. At least he didn’t cancel his show.

I love consignment stores/ online auctions – I’m always lurking, so many treasures – I agree I’ve seen lovely sets of flatware and china, glassware, cool MCM furniture all of that! Like the stuff I already have that Ian wants me to get rid of LOL

You’re right, they are looking for everyday stuff!

I’m glad you enjoyed the closet. I’m not one to follow rock stars/muscians/or groups really, but now Julie’s comment has me wondering why he’s a dick. Ha. Hooray for a good night sleep at a hotel. Twice in the last few years I’ve slept in a hotel and the alarm was set on the room’s clock and it woke me up in the morning hours before I needed to be up. I need to start checking those clocks before I go to sleep. I’m in the middle of a deep clean out of my closet. Getting rid of things and rearranging where things are stored. I’ll report back on how that ends up, if I ever finish!

  3. I am not a big Black Friday shopper. However, if I NEED (actually NEED) something, starting in October, I just put it in my Amazon cart and then wait to see if I can get it cheaper during Black Friday or whatever that internet Monday shopping thing is. May as well wait and get a deal if you can!

I’ve had quite the busy week, but would have found time to join you at your concert. I love seeing live music whoever it is. We try to go regularly here, in Quebec City.

We’ll be avoiding buying anything online or Black Friday (which seems a little silly up here, in Canada.) We need to get rid of stuff, now acquire more.

Black Friday is strategic for me. I know what I want and I will probably get just those pieces and nothing else. Two coveted plaid shirts from LL Bean, earrings from Nordstroms’, and a skirt from Macy’s. No impulse shopping for me but I will treat myself 🙂

  6. I just ordered a bunch of winter coats which I needed last year already but was too cheap. Unfortunately three other items landed in the cart… things I had been eying for months and are now 50% less. I guess that is ok and not a total impulse buy.
